MANDACARUS

"Mandacarus" is a series that emerges from the deep-seated

influences of one of Matheus's roots—the Brazilian "sertão."

Inspired by the rugged beauty of the mountains adorned with

dried trees and cacti, set against a backdrop of pink and orange

skies, the series captures the essence of this unique landscape.

Employing a technique blending plaster and oil paint, Matheus

imbues each artwork with a sense of fluidity reminiscent of

watercolors, while also infusing depth and expression. The

mandacaru cactus, a symbol of resilience and beauty, serves as

a central motif, particularly during the magical moments when

its flowers bloom under the starry sky. Through "Mandacaru,"

Matheus embarks on a journey to express the inherent beauty

of his country and the region of Minas Gerais, from which he

draws his inspiration.
